Anno Distillers - The Spirit of Alchemy

Anno Distillers Newsletter 5 - August 2013

Phew, what a month!  We are now on the market, stocked in some local off-licences, pubs, restaurants and on-line stores.  More details are available on the website, but we are pleased to say our gin is flying off the shelves especially at The Secret Cellar in Tunbridge Wells, Bottleneck in Broadstairs and Liquid Pleasure in Tenterden.
We have also exhibited in two major shows at Olympia; The Spirit of Christmas and The BBC Good Food Show.  Very well done to Kim for designing our show stand, which is adorned with 2m x 2m pictures of our bottle and Patience giving a very eye-catching presentation.

As “show virgins” we have moved up a very steep learning curve, but learnt a lot from the experience and sold many of our 70cL and miniature bottles.  During the shows the public tasted 5,000 samples and almost everyone was impressed with the smoothness and flavour of our Anno Kent Dry Gin………. even self-professed non-gin drinkers!  Anybody who signed up for our newsletter while tasting our gin had a chance to win a 70cl. bottle and the lucky winner is Matt W. from London.  A bottle is on its way to you Matt!
At the end of October we had a small, informal gathering to celebrate the launch of our gin.  Some of the people who have helped us on our journey as well as Helen Grant MP attended.  We have also had articles published in The Drinks Report, local press such as the Kent Messenger and Downsmail as well as a half-page advertisement in the Guardian pullout “Christmas Unwrapped”.  As a result internet sales and visits to the distillery to meet Patience and purchase our gin have significantly increased and there is a lot of activity on our Twitter account!
On the run-up to Christmas we will be featured at tasting events at Liquid Pleasure in Tenterden and Butlers Wine Cellar in Brighton on 6th December and The Secret Cellar in Tunbridge Wells, Wadhurst and Oxted on the weekend of the 7/8th December.  We will also be busy visiting other potential customers to increase our number of stockists.
We will be looking forward to a “Gin-tastic” break at Christmas to plan next years activities and new products.  In the meantime we would love to hear from you on or follow us on Facebook ( and Twitter (@annodistillers).
