Lord Digby Jones' Visits
08/01/2018 - The year kicks off with a visit from Lord Digby Jones!
Earlier this month, Anno Distillers were honoured to welcome The Rt Hon. Lord Digby Jones to our distillery in Marden, Kent. Lord Jones was visiting enterprises in the area as a guest of Helen Grant, MP for Maidstone and the Weald and newly appointed Vice Chair of the Conservative Party. Helen was unable to attend the visit as planned due to being called into Downing Street due to the Prime Minister’s re-shuffle.
During his visit to The Anno Distillery, Lord Jones was met by Founders, Dr Andy Reason and Dr Norman Lewis and Chief Distiller, Mike Kingswood. He was then introduced to the whole team, including the distillery apprentice, Jake Sedge, who joined the team in May 2017 as part of the National Apprenticeship Scheme. Lord Jones was then taken on a tour of the distillery and introduced to our beloved copper pot still, Patience.
Of the visit, Dr Norman Lewis, co-founder of Anno Distillers Ltd said “We were delighted that Lord Digby Jones chose to include Kent’s first micro distillery in his visit to local companies in Marden this morning.”
“It was also great to receive some pearls of wisdom on topical subjects from an experienced businessman” added Andy Reason, co-founder.
Anno are currently crowdfunding though Seedrs to raise funds to expand the business, as a former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, this was something Lord Jones was particularly interested in.
Norman Lewis said “Lord Jones was interested in Anno Distillers’ current equity crowdfunding raise and expressed a wish to re-visit in two years to see the company’s progress”.
At the end of his visit, Lord Digby Jones purchased a bottle of the multi-award winning Anno Kent Dry Gin to take away with him before continuing to his next destination, the nearby Burtons Medical Equipment.
